Babysitting

Happy Thursday!  I hope everyone is having an amazing day.

Today I am going to share some tips and items that are useful while watching an infant and a toddler at the same time.  This is the first time that I have ever taken care of more than 1 baby, I am not an expert but I do know that it takes a lot of patience.  If you don’t have patience then simply don’t do it.

I have been a mom for a little over a year now and I can admit that it is not easy.

Recently I have been taking care of my nephew Oliver who is 2 months old and my daughter Naila who recently turned 1.

Meet Oliver

1. Patience

Like I mentioned before if you don’t have this then this is not for you.

2. Kindness

Kindness and watching babies should go together.  Always manage challenging situations with a smile on your face not anger.  The more frustrated you get the worse the situation will become.

3. Interaction

Babies are attention magnets and they love it.  Reading to them, playing with them and talking to them are all musts for an amazing bond even if they are newborns or a couple months old.  For my “Baby’s Favorite Reads” blog post click here.

4. Invest in smart and useful items

One of the items that I own and use every single day, multiple times a day is the Fisher Price Auto Rock ‘n Play Sleeper.  This item rocks itself and the cradle is soft and comfortable.  It plays calming sounds and music, you can control the volume and speed of the auto rocking and it also has a timer setting just in case you don’t want it to continuously rock for hours.

2nd item that is useful while taking care of 2 babies is the Baby Bjorn Bouncer, this bouncer has been so good to us for this past year.  Naila loves it and it is very easy to bounce and most importantly it is extremely comfortable and it grows with her.  She is actually in it now as I am typing this blog and when she is a few years old she can use it as a chair.

Just took this picture. 🙂

I always love items that will grow with baby because those are the best investments a parent can ever make.  Whenever we go to any family or friend get together we take this item with us because it is compact and folds flat.

I recommend these 2 items simply because the first 2 days that I was taking care of Naila and Oliver together, their naps were definitely out of sync.  Babies need naps for everything to go a lot smoother and you will also have 2 happy babies.  For their naps to be in sync I bounce Naila in the bouncer while rocking Oliver the 2 month old to sleep and once he is in deep sleep I place him in the Rock ‘n Play which rocks on it’s own giving  Oliver the illusion of still being rocked in my arms.  I then have 2 sleeping babies and I have time to get my thoughts organized for when they wake up.  🙂  Genius right?

A 3rd very important item is a bottle warmer.  Oliver is breastfed so a blottle warmer is a must to warm up mom’s breast milk.  The perfect bottle warmer with a setting specifically to warm up breast milk is the Baby Brezza bottle warmer and I can also control it from my phone with an app.

The 4th is for me, coffee.  🙂  I have the Keurig K250 in the color Oasis, this is extremely convenient because it literally makes the coffee for me and gets my day started.

Always enjoy what you do!

This concludes my blog for today.

Thank you so much for supporting my blog.  Don’t forget to make a commitment to yourself to grow daily! 🙂

6. The Fisher Price Rock ‘n Play is perfect for a newborn to take naps in and it is still perfect for my 9 month old while I shower, she can be in it and be happy because it rocks her and plays music.  Click on either of the 3 images to check them out.

7. You will definitely need gripe water for Gas, Colic and Hiccups.  I have used both of these and they both work perfectly.  Click on either of the images below.

8. Diaper rash ointment is a must to prevent or treat any kind of rash. Click on either of the images below.

9. Alcohol free hand sanitizer for when you are changing their diaper, preparing their bottle, or even holding them.  They have very sensitive skin so alcohol free hand sanitizer is a must. Click on the image below.

10. Laundry detergent for your newborn’s clothes.  Click on any of the images below they both work great.

11.  Puj Tub, a foldable and compact tub that can fit in a sink so that you are close to your newborn while bathing him or her and your baby will definitely feel secure.  Click on the image below.

12. Baby soap for their bath, I have used both below and they are both amazing.  Click on either of the images below.

13. Baby lotion to keep their skin moisturized after every bath.  Click on either of the images below.

14. Baby bottle soap and pacifier soap is a necessity.  Click on the image below.

15. Nose Frida the snot sucker to clean out your baby’s nose.  You will use this all of the time for sure.  It is also very easy to clean.  Click on the image below to purchase it also comes with extra filters so you don’t have to buy those seperately.

16.  Along with the Nose Frida you will need some kind of saline spray to loosen their snot before you aspirate it out.  Click on either of the pictures below.

These are the items that I found to be an absolute necessity besides clothes ofcourse.  Check out my Baby Must Haves Part 1.  My daughter is now 9 months old and I still use all of these items so they are definitely a great investment.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read my blog post.  Stay tuned for more coming soon.
